EmpowerAbility: Supporting People With Disabilities into Work
I want you to take a moment.
Picture your family, your circle of friends, your neighbours, your children’s friends or family. Among them, is there someone with a disability? Maybe it’s an old schoolmate who faced challenges differently? Or a cousin who navigates the world in a unique way?
For many of us in the UK, the answer is a resounding yes. More often than not, these individuals, bursting with potential and ambition, are facing an unnoticed battle. The unsettling truth is that too many people with disabilities, whether physical or hidden, are not in employment. Many companies choose to remain non-inclusive, often side-lining those with disabilities instead of recognising their worth.
Job opportunities seem sparse, and society's understanding of disability is even scarcer, so their potential goes unnoticed. Unfortunately, this has led many people living with a disability to feel misunderstood, unsupported and as though they are second best.
At Admin and More, we are determined to change this. We're here with a dream, a mission, and a concrete plan. Introducing EmpowerAbility: A Disability Work Placement Project which aims to give every disabled individual a fighting chance in the professional world.
This isn't just about ensuring they have jobs, it’s an appeal for inclusivity in the UK workplace. It’s about ensuring they have careers where they can flourish, and grow, making significant contributions to our country's growth and prosperity. It’s about making them realise they DO COUNT and WE DO CARE.
However, we need something more potent than ambition to get this project off the ground: we need collective action and are therefore asking for YOUR help.
We are currently seeking funding to run a pilot project in Kettering, which we hope to expand across the country. By supporting our Crowdfunding campaign, you could help 156 disabled people get into the workplace and stay in employment within the first year.
We’re not merely offering jobs. We’re crafting careers, opportunities, and futures by providing comprehensive training, dedicated resources, and ongoing support services that span over 12 months, ensuring that our participants transition seamlessly into the professional world.
By supporting EmpowerAbility, your pledge, big or small, isn't just about the funds. You’re shouting nationwide that people with a disability MATTER and that THEY deserve a chance. It's an affirmation of belief – a belief in the equal capabilities of all, a belief in a future where every individual can pursue their dreams without being held back by physical or societal barriers.
EmpowerAbility is a call to action. It's a commitment to challenging conventions, tearing down barriers, and celebrating the spirit of inclusivity in workplaces where the disabled don't just work to live but live to work with passion, purpose, and fulfilment.
So, as you think of that one person in your life who faces the world differently, we ask:
