Morning Habits to Prepare for a Day of Success!

As a small business owner, you are the driving force behind your company so taking care of your physical and mental well-being is crucial. We believe that a strong start to your day sets the tone for success. Building a healthy morning routine could be the game-changer you need to thrive both personally and professionally.

Here are our top 4 tips to creating a constructive morning routine:

1. Focus on Self-Care

We are told over and over again, to practice self-care but more often than not it sits at the bottom of our priority list. If the only time you focus on yourself is when you’re burnt out, it’s time to switch things up! After all - if you don’t make time for your wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for your illness.

Start your day by:

  • Eating a healthy breakfast and drinking a pint of water

  • Exercising - this could be a short walk, run or yoga session

  • Meditating – clear your mind so you are ready to focus, make better decisions, and regulate your thoughts

  • Doing something that brings you joy! Starting your day with a positive outlook will help to keep you motivated throughout the day

2. Personal Reflection

Take a moment to reflect on both your personal and professional goals. Reflection creates clarity for you to make decisions that will help you achieve your goals.

Think about:

  • What you want to achieve and visualise your success

  • Why do you do what you do? What’s your passion?

  • Positive intentions for the day

  • What you are grateful for

3. Prioritise and Plan

If you want to progress, you need to spend your time working on things that drive your business forward. Before you dive into a task or check your inbox, take a few moments to review your priorities for the day.

Get organised by:

  • Creating a to-do list or use a project management tool to set yourself realistic goals.

  • Determine which tasks are non-negotiable, this will help you stay on track when things get busy and prevent you from getting distracted by less essential tasks. If every task is urgent – none of them are!

  • Get help from a Virtual Assistant! VA’s can help you to prioritise (and complete) your tasks. At Admin and More, we offer morning accountability calls where we can help you to focus and plan for the day ahead.

4. Learn Something New

The needs of your business will change over time, so it’s important to stay up to date with the latest trends. Carve out a dedicated time slot, even if it's just 15 minutes, to feed your brain with knowledge.

Look for practical ways to apply what you've learned in your work or daily life. Share intriguing articles and discuss concepts with colleagues that could revolutionise your way of working.

Try:

  • Listening to a podcast on your way to work

  • Taking part in an online course

  • Reading a business book or industry news whilst having breakfast

  • Watching a TED talk with your mid-morning coffee

When it comes to building habits, consistency is the key to seeing results. That doesn’t mean you need to stick to it 100% of the time, so don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself. Remember to make small changes and create a structure that works with you, not against you.
