Are you struggling at work? Are you feeling stressed or overwhelmed?

We know that sometimes work can feel like too much. For whatever reason that may be causing you negative feelings, we’ve put together a little list of ways to hopefully help you manage.

To handle your stress and anxiety at work, it’s important to prioritise self-care and implement strategies that will help you relax and stay focused. We’ve put together a few tips that might help:

1. Take Breaks - Remember to take short breaks throughout the day to recharge and clear your mind. Maybe ask a colleague to go get a cup of tea with you, or if you’re working from home take the time to go on a short walk.

2. Practice Deep Breathing - Deep breathing exercises can help reduce stress and anxiety. Take a few minutes to focus on your breath (breathe in for 3 secs, hold for 2 secs, breathe out for 3 secs) and calm your mind away from work.

3. Stay Organised - Create to-do lists, priorities tasks, and set realistic goals to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Break down your tasks into smaller chunks to make them more manageable so they don’t feel as formidable.

4. Communicate - Talk to your colleagues, supervisor or friends about how you’re feeling. Sometimes sharing your concerns can help alleviate stress and they may even have a solution!

5. Physical Activity - Incorporating exercise into your routine can help reduce stress and improve your mood. Cycling to work or going for a walk can give you time to decompress and raise your endorphins. Remember, it’s essential to take care of yourself both physically and mentally.

6. Mindfulness or Meditation - Practicing mindfulness or meditation can help you stay present and manage anxious thoughts. To find out more go to the NHS Mindfulness Page or the NHS Meditation for Beginners.

7. Seek Support - Why not consider hiring a VA to help support and assist you in your tasks so that you can achieve your goals?

If you feel you need support to improve your work/life balance, speak to us in a FREE consultation call, where we can discuss the tasks we can perform for you, such as managing your email inbox and diary, setting up database systems, and helping you keep to a schedule.

If your stress and anxiety are persistent and affecting your well-being, consider talking to a mental health professional. Work shouldn’t be so stressful that you feel like you can’t manage your day-to-day tasks. If you need more help, we have put together a few other options:

  • Consider looking into what mental health resources your company offers
